Side-by-Side Comparisons

Every comparison on Alternative Pharm Press puts two compounds, products or strains side by side on the things that actually differ: chemistry, what the evidence shows, safety and interactions, drug testing and legal status. Each guide cites primary sources and says plainly where the research is thin.

Use the lists below to find a comparison by topic. New guides are added regularly, and each one is dated so you can see when the legal and research picture was last checked.

How we build these comparisons

  • Primary sources first. Peer-reviewed studies (checked against PubMed), FDA and DEA documents, the Federal Register, and regulators in the UK and Canada.
  • Honest about evidence quality. We flag when findings come from animal studies, small trials, single samples or industry-funded research.
  • Dated legal status. Laws on hemp cannabinoids, kratom alkaloids and peptides are changing quickly. Each guide states the position as of its publication date.
  • No health claims or dosing advice. These are educational comparisons, not recommendations. Talk to a licensed clinician before using any of these products.

Cannabinoids and cannabis products

Delta-8, delta-10, THCA, HHC, THC-P, CBD, CBG and CBN, plus how concentrates, oils and gummies differ. Each guide covers the federal hemp changes taking effect in November and December 2026.

Kratom and related botanicals

Vein colours, strain names, capsules versus powder and how kratom compares with other botanicals. These guides focus on what lab reports can and cannot tell you.

Peptides and GLP-1 medicines

Prescription GLP-1 medicines compared on trial data, and research peptides compared on the (often limited) evidence and their regulatory status. No dosing or use instructions.

Mushrooms

Functional mushrooms compared on fruiting body versus mycelium, beta-glucan testing and human trials, plus a harm-reduction comparison of amanita and psilocybin mushrooms.

Nootropics and adaptogens

Choline sources, racetams, wakefulness drugs and adaptogenic herbs compared on evidence, safety signals and legal status in the US, UK and Canada.
