Selank
A Russian-developed heptapeptide based on tuftsin — used as an anxiolytic nootropic, often paired with Semax.
Why it matters
Selank is based on the immune-active peptide tuftsin. It modulates GABA, serotonin, and tuftsin-related immune signalling. Russian clinical studies report anxiolytic effects without the sedation typical of benzodiazepines.
In practice
Typical use is intranasal at 250–750mcg. Effects are reported acutely. The compound is unscheduled in many jurisdictions but unapproved for any human indication outside Russia.
Common confusion
Selank is sometimes described as a “benzodiazepine alternative.” The pharmacology differs substantially; the comparison is functional rather than mechanistic.
