Retatrutide
An investigational triple agonist at GLP-1, GIP, and glucagon receptors — Eli Lilly’s next-generation obesity drug, currently in Phase 3 trials.
Why it matters
Retatrutide adds glucagon agonism to the dual GLP-1/GIP profile of tirzepatide. Phase 2 data showed weight loss of about 24% over 48 weeks at the highest tested dose — substantially larger than tirzepatide or semaglutide. The glucagon component is hypothesised to add metabolic rate and fat oxidation effects on top of the appetite suppression.
In practice
Phase 3 trials are underway. If approved, retatrutide would be the most powerful weight-loss medication on the market. The research peptide market has already begun offering retatrutide for research use.
Common confusion
Research-market retatrutide is not the same as a finished pharmaceutical product — purity, dose accuracy, and sterility are the buyer’s responsibility.
