CBD dosage

The amount of CBD taken per administration — for most consumer applications, a daily total in the range of 10–60mg, individualised by goal and response.

Why it matters

Clinical trials of CBD use doses from 5mg/kg/day for paediatric epilepsy (often 600–1000mg+ daily for adults) down to 10–25mg single doses for anxiety in laboratory settings. Most over-the-counter consumer use falls in the 10–60mg per administration range, taken once or twice daily. Response is non-linear: higher doses are not always more effective and very high doses can produce somnolence.

In practice

A sensible starting protocol: 10–15mg twice daily of a sublingual full-spectrum tincture for a week, observing response, then adjust. The biggest mistake is too-short trials and inconsistent dosing schedules.

Common confusion

“More CBD = better” is wrong. Many users find a moderate dose more effective than a high one, particularly for anxiety.
