CBC

CANNABIS · GLOSSARY ENTRY

CBC (Cannabichromene)

A minor non-intoxicating cannabinoid with activity at TRP channels and modest CB2 affinity — typically present in cannabis at under 1%.

Why it matters

CBC originates from CBCA in the plant and shares the CBGA precursor with THC and CBD. It does not bind CB1 strongly and is not psychoactive. Its most studied targets are the TRPA1 and TRPV channels, which are implicated in pain and inflammation signalling.

In practice

CBC is most commonly encountered as part of a full-spectrum extract rather than as a stand-alone product. Clinical evidence for stand-alone supplementation is limited.

Common confusion

CBC is sometimes lumped in with CBD as “calming.” Pharmacology aside, they target different systems.
