Live resin (hemp)

A hemp extract made from fresh-frozen flower — preserves terpenes and minor cannabinoids better than dried-cured extraction.

Why it matters

Hemp live resin follows the same process as cannabis live resin: harvest, flash-freeze, extract with cold hydrocarbon solvent, recover. The result is a hemp concentrate that preserves more of the original terpene profile than conventional CBD extraction methods. For full-spectrum CBD products, live resin starting material elevates the entourage matrix.

In practice

Practical context: most hemp live resin reaches consumers in vape carts or as concentrates. The price premium over conventional extract reflects the cold-chain handling.

Common confusion

“Hemp live resin” and “cannabis live resin” use the same technology but produce different products — the source cultivar is the difference.
