Accessibility Statement.

Last updated: [NEED DATE OF PUBLICATION]

Alternative Pharm Press is committed to making its editorial work usable for the widest possible audience, including readers who use assistive technology. We treat accessibility as part of editorial quality, not a separate compliance task.

Our target.

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the W3C. WCAG 2.1 AA is the standard referenced by the UK Public Sector Bodies Accessibility Regulations, by the US Department of Justice for ADA Title III web accessibility, and by Canadian provincial legislation such as the AODA. We monitor WCAG 2.2 and intend to align with it as our templates are updated.

What we have done.

  • Built the Site on the Astra theme with semantic HTML structure for headings, lists, and landmarks.
  • Selected a colour palette — forest green, cream, amber — with contrast ratios checked against WCAG AA thresholds for body and large text.
  • Sized body type at 18px with generous line height to support readers with low vision.
  • Used descriptive link text rather than “click here” and added alternative text to editorial images.
  • Designed forms with visible labels, error messages, and full-pill focus states.

What we are still working on.

Some legacy posts and older brand-directory cards may not yet meet our internal standard. We are auditing and remediating those pages as part of ongoing editorial maintenance. Embedded third-party media — for example, social media posts and PDF lab reports uploaded by brands — may not always meet WCAG AA; where we identify gaps, we add a text summary alongside the embed.
